Our Impact
For over 25 years, Quint, a key member of the Saskatoon’s core communities, has devotedly developed strategies to address local issues like poverty, homelessness, and limited economic opportunities.
Build Up Saskatoon is a tangible extension of Quint’s mandate to reduce employment barriers and aid in Community Economic Development. After years working with some of the most vulnerable and marginalized communities, Quint observed a lack of opportunities for individuals with a criminal justice history. The Build Up program was conceived not only to help reintegrate, stabilize and support those exiting the justice system, but also as a tangible means to contribute meaningfully to Community Safety and Wellbeing initiatives. To learn more about the outcomes of our work, read the Canadian Centre for the Study of Co-operatives’ study measuring the social and economic impact of Build Up Saskatoon here.
For every dollar invested in supporting Build Up Saskatoon the return on investment is multifaceted:
Reduced costs to the justice system
Reduced demand for social services
Reduced demand on healthcare system
Improved quality of life
Improved public safety
Increased leabour market readiness
Build Up Saskatoon has been grateful for the continued support of our primary funders: Home Depot Canada Foundation, and the provincial Ministry of Immigration and Career training and Ministry of Correction, Policing, and Public safety.
Build Up continues to seek funding to amplify the impact of our work, and to create additional opportunities for individuals who are looking for the right supports to pursue a positive path.
Crew Member Quote
“I really like the environment, the people, and how they have put me in a position of trust. They recognize things, all the small accomplishments and they appreciate it. This boosts my confidence and belief in myself that I can pursue carpentry”
